Your Compass Star
Sometimes you just have to start: Whether it’s writing a book, building a website or even starting a blog; that is also the way it is with building wealth. You may not know where to start or where the path will lead, but you have to make that first brave step: a testament to the universe that you are ready to have the life and opportunities you deserve.
It is not always acceptable to say, but I love wealth, and I love the opportunities it can bring people in their lives. I have been in financial services and financial planning most of my career and am passionate about seeing people succeed in increasing their wealth and achieving their dreams.
Financial planning gives you a map to achieve your goals and build wealth. However, just like in real life, a map is not overly useful solely by itself; you need to have proper orientation, and most of all you need a compass to help maintain direction and focus as you traverse the landscape your map represents. Additionally, in our changing world your map may become outdated quickly, but your compass will always point the way. Your Compass Star is where you start.
True wealth is about more than just money, and so I developed a compass that includes more than just money. Yes money is important, but true wealth is so much more than just numbers in a bank account. Money is energy, like a battery to be used to facilitate or enhance something else; simply put money should support your life not the other way around.
Your Compass Star helps you focus and create true wealth by guiding you in building all your key elements of wealth called your PATH (Passion, Abundance, Time, & Health). All four of these dimensions increase total wealth, which is why I developed this framework and wrote a financial planning book called Compass Star: Your PATH to True Wealth which will be available for purchase in a few short months.
Personal finance is fascinating because it is not like corporate finance where the primary goal is increasing shareholder value. In personal finance, value is nuanced. Not everyone is completely wealthy in all areas all the time, and not everyone sees value in the same things. This is what makes wealth building both fun and challenging. With your compass, you focus on what brings value to your life and what does not; and therefore what to fund with your money. Learning to build wealth does not have to be intimating, you can learn a little at a time and attain more sophistication with experience.
And all you have to do is start. I invite you on this PATH with me.
